Blade is a Carnegie award winning series of books, aimed at teens, written by Tim Bowler.
We produced this site and trailer to promote a gritty fictional series about a streetwise loner with a mysterious past. Main aims were to bring Blade’s character to life online and build the series online.
The trailer was shot around urban areas of Bristol, particularly lots of graffiti covered walls, run-down buildings & high-rise estates, that proved to be the perfect backdrop to encapsulate the tone of these books.
The footage is also colour-treated to mimic the strong blues and reds on the book covers, and includes lots of fast cuts and shaky-camera movement to suggest a sense of excitement and urgency.
We also hired a local actor to voiceover some copy from the books throughout, along with other sound effects and music.
Site promotion included an online PR campaign including author web chats, reviews, newsletter features and competitions across teenage, lifestyle, study and social networking sites. Click here to see the case study.
