Here Be Monsters

Client: Oxford University Press

Ratbridge is populated by a variety of odd creatures and equally unusual humans. Underlings, including boxtrolls (shy trolls that wear boxes) and cabbageheads (they worship cabbage and wear them tied to their heads), live in tunnels and caves beneath the city.

Arguably our favourite project to date, we produced this site to promote an amazingly bizarre series of children's books called Here Be Monsters. Design objectives were to bring the characters personalities to life online and add colour and breadth of life utilising the illustrations that feature in the books.

Developed with side scrolling movement and comedy sounds, this fun, quirky site complements the tone and illustrative style of this series of children’s books.

Since launch both German and Slovakian publishers have asked us to localise the site for their promotional campaigns.
