Hero.com & Villain.net

Client: Oxford University Press

Supporting the ongoing series of children’s/teen books Hero.com & Villain.net, this site is split into a full-fat flash and accessible HTML version.

This site has been developed over a number of phases initially targeting trade and now consumer audiences.

Design objectives were to produce a site with a film-like, superhero feel picking up on books tone and content, as well as pushing the campaign strap line ‘Which Side are You On?'

Business objectives were to drive sales, encouraging sign ups for visitors to receive regularly updated content ranging from new book releases, author video blogs, extracts, & quizzes.

The site also includes trailers plus a game & facebook application enabling users to create their own illustrated hero or villain, and challenge a friend to a rooftop battle.

Each character was illustrated by our in house team bringing to life the characters in a Top Trumps style fighting game.

Phased promotional activity includes an online PR campaign featuring reviews, author web chats & competitions across targeted teen lifestyle sites. Click here to view examples: HV PR

We also ran a buzz marketing campaign across social networking sites including facebook, Bebo & Myspace incentivising dedicated fans to recommend the site and facebook application to their friends.
